Skinner traps are robust traps made from exterior grade plywood which fold flat when not in use. They can be quickly assembled and set up from either
mains or generator power. Clear plastic sliding top panels allow access to the catch without turning off the Mercury Vapour bulb - a useful feature
as the bulbs should ideally be cooled before they can be switched back on.
These traps are supplied without a base and can be used directly onto the ground, on a white sheet or on sheets of plywood.
Mercury Vapour 125W bulbs offer the highest catch rates, but need to be protected from the rain to prevent them shattering. This trap should not be used in the rain unless it is sheltered. Although there won't be many moths to trap if it is raining! Rain guards are avavilable seperately if you want to use the trap in inclement weather.
The 240V electrics are supplied with an IP56 waterproof control box, with compression flanges and approximately 5 metres of input lead and 1 metre of output lead.
The 125W Mercury Vapour bulb can get bright enough to annoy neighbours if using the trap in your back garden. If this may be a concern, a 60W actinic skinner moth trap is available. The 60W actinic trap is less bright and will attract approximately 40% less moths.
