About this book

Language: Bilingual in English and French

An amazing and highly original photographic study of butterflies. The subjects are typically captured in relation to plants, which enhance the artistic impact of the photographs. This personal approach has been developed by Stephane Hette in a unique way.

Latin names are given but the text is confined to a preface by Paul Staraosta, an introdution and an account of the techniques involved.

Biography

Stephane Hette studied illustration and discovered photography by chance when he was 37. After a year of trial and error, he developed his own process for capturing living subjects: he respects the environment and integrity of his subjects and uses only his patience and knowledge of the species in question, without resort to modification.

Media reviews

Is it due to the very subject of butterflies or to the photographer's talent? Both, should I answer! And here are THE Works of Art! A very original book, an achievement, which perfectly fulfils its aim: bringing into the limelight this Nature we live in and do not actually see! --Paul Starosta
