About this book

Language: Hebrew

This handy field guide includes all 146 species and subspecies of the butterflies of the south - eastern Mediterranean. No fewer than 567 specimens (mostly bred) from 16 collections were photographed to get the best results. For each species male and female upperside and underside are presented life-size (only large species are slightly reduced) with distribution maps, flight periods and behavioural characteristics depicted graphically. The author is the foremost lepidopterist in the Middle-East, with a world-wide reputation for his many scientific articles. His accumulated experience of more than 50 years is given in the field guide, much of the information is not published elsewhere. The book is in Hebrew but all scientific names are given in English.
