General management discusses taxonomy, habitat and distribution in the wild, and captive housing, feeding, nutrition and breeding including colour mutations and breeding expectations, handrearing for pet and breeding birds. Individual chapters cover 16 lory and 18 lorikeet species over nine genera. The chapter on health and diseases is written by an avian veterinarian.
