This checklist identifies 2,243 species alphabetically under 142 families. Symbols are used to show that in the author's opinion 156 of the 246 endemic species are endangered. Since being found in small isolated communities, 21 species have probably become extinct. Specimen numbers are given of all species collected and these specimens are lodged mainly in the herbaria of the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew and Edinburgh.
