Almost 20% of the world's bird species live in Colombia, the majority of them in the Andes region.

It is the most complete compilation of Neotropical bird vocalizations published to date for this area. 56 Contributing ornithologists made recordings at over 150 different localities (including Oriental, Central and Western Cordillera of Colombia). It includes 65 threatened birdspecies and 31 endemics. Over 1200 recordings.

This CD-set is part of the National Biodiversity Inventory and contributes to the development of the National Bird Conservation Strategy in Colombia.
