The UK Government is committed to introducing a new framework for the seas through a Marine Bill. This White Paper explains why new legislation is required. It sets out the UK Government's intention for the scope and content of the Marine Bill. The proposed Marine Bill would establish a strategic system of marine planning, and would balance conservation, energy and resource needs.
