This English naturalist was, with the exception of Darwin himself, the most important developer of modern evolutionary theory. He was also the father of modern biogeographical studies, and an eminent tropical naturalist. Less well known are his writings on other subjects such as anthropology, geology and cosmology. This is an anthology of his writings organised thematically.
