When two black bear cubs arrived on Kilham's New Hampshire doorstep in 1993, he decided to raise them in the surrounding woods. It allowed him to observe their complex behaviour, including altruistic traits, planning and deception. He went on to raise 26 cubs in all, succesfully releasing most of them into the wild. This is his engaging story.
