Language: French, with bilingual identification key in English and French
Resulting from numerous field explorations, examination of museums collections and scientific literature, this book is the first guide dealing with central Africa and Angola amphibians. The geographic framework and natural habitats are presented; the distribution of the species and the endemicity are analysed in connection with the ecological constraints (rainfall, temperature, elevation...); detailed information about biology and ecology arranged by habitat and country as well as a discussion on conservation and biodiversity protection for each country are provided.
A table shows endemicity and distribution of all species in the area covered by the guide. An identification key (bilingual French/English), fully original and lavishly illustrated with numerous high quality drawings (made by the authors), allows easy identification of the amphibians from Gabon and Mbini. Illustration is completed by about thirty colour photographic plates showing the main habitats and more than 60 species. Finally an exhaustive list of references (sorted by countries and taxa) and a glossary complete the book.
