Title information
The history of araucarias can be traced back to the Triassic period. The best preserved araucarian forest is the Cerro Cuadrado Petrified Forest in Patagonia. Tree trunks found at the site prove that the giant tree, some more than 100 meters tall, flourished there during the Jurassic period. But what makes this site extraordinary are the gorgeous and beautifully preserved silicified cones of Araucaria mirabilis found there.
