About this book

Language: Catalan

During the era of modernism nature was reaffirmed as an inexhaustible source of artistic inspiration. Influenced by the cult of nature, artists created poetic imagery, symbolic dreams, while scientists who were alive during the initial period of the impact of Darwinism, started the debate between creationists and evolutionists. Moreover, antimaterialist and idealist approaches that, in some cases, had coincided with the fundamental principles of the theory of evolution, formed part of the sensitivity of the Symbolist movement, in which the landscapes of the soul extended from the proximate to the unconscious through travel to uncharted islands. This work, which explores the relationship between art and nature, integrates all these phenomena from a plural and organic perspective.
