Contains over 5000 meticulous full colour paintings depicting every bird native to North America. Each species is shown in 6-8 paintings, in full, in flight, from above and below, both genders, juvenile and mature, along with useful signifiers that help in identification. 800 species are fully described, but with the addition of illustrations and data on sub species, variants and accidentals, the total number of birds covered is 1100. For each species there is a voice description along with detailed colour maps illustrating summer and winter ranges, breeding grounds, migration routes, and locations where migrants have been identified.
