An identification handbook covering all the Palearctic buntings and Nearctic sparrows of the Holarctic region, a total of 108 species. These species, members of the sub-family Emberizinae, are represented in nearly every habitat in the region. They also present considerable identification problems, and a good identification guide has been long overdue. Initial introductory chapters are followed by the plates (by Clive Byers), with brief notes. The main text section covers identification, distribution (with maps) and other relevant information.
