Biography
Chris Craggs was born in Richmond, North Yorkshire, in 1950. He started rock climbing in 1965 on Yorkshire gritstone and in the Lake District. He moved to Sheffield in 1970 to train as a teacher and 'hit' the Peak District. He currently teaches in a special school for children with severe learning difficulties. Chris has climbed extensively in the UK, from Jersey to northern Scotland and all stops in between. In Europe he has been to locations as far apart as northern Sweden and Gibraltar, including 40 trips to Spain. He has also made nine extended trips to the USA, where he visited spots as varied as Squamish Chief in British Colombia, the Devil's Tower in Wyoming and City of Rocks in Idaho, as well as the honey pots of Yosemite, Zion and the Grand Canyon. Chris has written six books on UK and foreign climbing destinations, and writes regularly for the UK outdoor press.
