About this book

This publication is a revision of the 1990 Field Book 9 which replaced Softwood Sawlogs: Presentation for Sale, first published in 1980. The normal practice of the Forestry Commission is to classify parcels of sawlogs offered for sale. Four categories green, red, short green and log pole – cover all sales of logs. The descriptions of these classes are given in the tables presented in this booklet
