Biography

Malcolm Francis is a fisheries scientist based at the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research in Wellington, and has been an active diver and underwater photographer for more than 30 years. His photographs have won awards at the prestigious Oceans underwater photographic competitions and he was the founding president of the Wellington branch of the Underwater Photographic Society of New Zealand. He holds a Ph.D. in zoology and a Master of Science in resource management. Coastal Fishes reflects the successful combination of Malcolm's broad scientific knowledge and his stunning underwater photography in a book that will appeal to anyone interested in New Zealand's natural history.
