About this book

Part One of this work is a wholly new section entitled "An Approach to Making a Diagnosis". It discusses the basic procedures involved in taking a history and carrying out a physical examination, characteristic types of lesion, signalment, breed dispositions, etc. as well as key diagnostic tests and basic procedures in clinical pathology (collection of specimens etc) Part One concludes with guidelines on how to make a diagnostic plan which ensures consideration of all possible differential diagnoses. Part Two is the atlas proper. It features most of the illustrations from the first edition, with over 150 new photographs giving balanced coverage of conditions seen in small animal practice today. The text has been completely rewritten, with new sections on hypersensitivities, auto immune and endocrine disorders, environmental problems and zoos. This volume has coverage of conditions seen in small mammals eg. rabbits, guinea pigs and rodents, and the characteristic cross-infection between species (to other pets, and their owners).
