About this book

Language: English, with bilingual summary in English and German

This catalogue of the bryophytes of Southwest Asia is a first steptowards making knowledge on Southwest Asian bryophytes easily available. It is a presentation of floristic data for bryophyte species reported from Southwest Asia including the Sinai, and shows the territorial distribution for all listed taxa up to the level of variety. As far as possible we have tried to give the correct nomenclature according to current taxonomic standards. Doubtful species are also included, unless their synonymity has been reliably established. Formas and lower taxonomic categories have been neglected. On the basis of this catalogue, 4 hornworts, 210 liverworts and 922 mosses are reported for the area of Southwest Asia.
