Biography

TADAYOSHI TERAO is Researcher in the Environment and Resources Studies Group at the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO), Japan. He studied Agricultural Chemistry and Economics at the University of Tokyo, and Development Economics and Resource Economics at Stanford University. In his current position he conducts studies on industrial pollution control and environmental policy in Japan, Taiwan and South Asia. KENJI OTUKA is Researcher in the Environment and Resources Studies Group at the Institute of Developing Economies (IDE-JETRO), Japan. In his current position he has conducted intensive research on China's environmental issues since 1993. He was a Visiting Research Scholar at Peking University from 1997 to 1999. His fieldwork has covered environmental policy process, river basin governance, environmental pollution disputes, environmental awareness and community/non-governmental organization activism in China.
