About this book

Language: German

In concise but scientifically sound form this handy identification guide introduces all wild mammals – with the exception of whales – from the Western Palearctic, and therefore covers the whole of Europe and also North Africa and the Middle East. A total of 403 species are treated, each with short text to their biology and habitat, a scientific drawing, distribution map, and – if necessary – description via additional sketches (for example, the skull or a section of the teeth). The colour illustrations of animals illustrate the appearance, different skins, the possible differences between the sexes and anatomical details.

The high number of species points to the richness of the fauna of these areas and documents the latest discoveries in mammal classification.
