Presents and develops ecological theory as a foundation for integrated pest management practices, with the aim of improving those practices. The information and models given enable a pest manager to develop a strategy for controlling any group of pest. Contents include: host-plant resistance; biological, microbial, chemical and cultural controls; ecological concepts related to arthropod-borne plant diseases and their control; the economic dimension of agro-ecology; and a comparison and contrast of natural and agricultural ecosystems.
