This report is an account of the changes in the broad ecology of Scotland between the 1940s and 1970s, based upon results published from the National Countryside Monitoring Scheme. It describes the ecological character and diversity of Scotland and provides an ecological interpretation of land cover and land cover change for each of the twelve Scottish regions and for Scotland as a whole.
