This volume presents the results of the project "Ecology of Arable Land. The Role of Organisms in Nitrogen Cycling." The project was carried out during 1979-1988 with field studies concentrated to 1980-1985. The main project objective was to investigate and synthesize the contributions of the soil organisms to nitrogen and carbon circulation in four contrasting cropping systems.
