Malaria and other mosquito-borne diseases are major human mortality and morbidity factors in many tropical regions, including Malesia. Correct identification of mosquito vectors is the first step towards successful control of the vectors, and consequently the diseases. Interactive keys (adult females and larvae) are provided to separate the 20 genera of Culicidae found in Malesia. New keys are provided to species of most genera that include vector species, namely Aedes, Anopheles, Coquillettidia, Culex and Mansonia; diagnostic notes are provided for Armigeres. Each species key includes enough representative non-vector species to permit separation of vector from non-vector species. Either line drawings or high-definition photographs illustrate all species. The CD-ROM also includes an introduction, and there are sections on how to collect and preserve mosquitoes, morphology, checklists, a list of mosquito-borne diseases and a bibliography.
