This volume is divided into three parts. The first part of the book covers morphology, anatomy and biology of bats, focusing mostly on the important features of these airborne nocturnal animals. The second part includes the families, genera and species of bats of Romania. For each above-mentioned systematic category, two identification keys are provided, one based on body characteristics, and one on cranium characteristics. Each species presentation comprises first the synonyms, then a short description including some biometric data, the species areal limit in Europe and the Old World, and a few aspects about the species ecology and biology. The third part shows the distribution of bats in Romania, using locality names, UTM codes and maps with 10 × 10 km square UTM grid lines.
