The present volume involves 11 families, 29 genera and 113 species of the Order Siluriformes in China. It is one of the basic scientific information on Chinese ichthyology. It is also a contemporary systematic revision on Chinese siluriform fishes. The whole volume is composed of two main parts, i.e. general account and systematic account. The general account deals with brief history of research, morphological characters, systematic, geographical distribution and biology of siluriform fishes. In systematic account, descriptions are given in turn of family, genus and species, putting emphasis on species taxa, mainly morphological description, as well as biology, economic significance and distribution. In individual cases, there are remarks on problems of identification and relationships.
