About this book

Language: English

Despite low rainfall and high aridity, Rajasthan, India, is very rich in biodiversity and endemism. A variety of habitats like desert salt flats, perennial and seasonal streams, high hills, narrow valleys, dense forests, extensive grasslands etc. are confined to this state. Many endemic taxa have evolved in these habitats over time. The author has covered all endemic life forms from bacteria to the apex of the animal kingdom, i.e. mammals, and from Thallophyta to Angiosperms, the highly evolved group of plants. Both animal and plant endemism related to Rajasthan and adjoining parts of different states have been documented in this book.

Faunal and Floral Endemism in Rajasthan would make indispensable reading and a good reference work for zoologists, botanists, foresters, environmentalists, conservationists, naturalists, and laymen.
