About this book

Language: French

After the Miridae, the Lygaeidae constitute the largest family in terms of biodiversity with an approximate 4000 species. Faune de France volumes 84A to 84C describes some 500 species, embracing the whole Euro-Mediterranean region. This is the first comprehensive work on this group. The division into three parts is an editorial convenience, the whole forming a must for any study of these insects. The first volume includes general information on the family (history, morphology, early stages of development, ecology, ethology, phylogeny, population, collection, conservation, and breeding ) and the systematic part deals with the following subfamilies: Lygaeinae, Orsillinae, Ischnorrhynchinae, Cyminae, Blissinae, Henestarinae, Geocorinae, Artheneinae, Heterogatrinae, and Pachygronthinae. The second volume deals with subfamilies Oxycareninae, Bledionotinae and the first part of Rhyparochrominae. The third volume completes the study of Rhyparochrominae. It includes a bibliography and a complete systematic and botanical index of the three volumes. Each volume includes a partial index. This fauna is for all entomologists interested in Heteroptera and is the reference book essential for anyone wishing to study the European Lygaeidae.
