The family Vitaceae is represented in the neotropics by four genera; the three principal ones are treated in this volume. Ampelocissus is represented by four neotropical species in Central America and the Caribbean, Ampelopsis by one in Mexico, and Cissus by 75 ranging from South Florida to Chile and Argentine and Patagonia. Keys, distribution maps, and line drawings for the species discussed are provided
