The Tsangpo Gorge in south-east Tibet is the world's deepest gorge. First published in 1926, this work tells the story of its exploration and the rich plant and animal life found there. This is the account of plant-hunter and explorer Frank Kingdon Ward's most important expedition. This second edition brings the story right up to date by describing the devastating flood of 2000, with dramatic before and after photographs. It discusses plans for hydro-electric dams on the Tsangpo-Siang and highlights many other threats to conservation - logging, hunting and tourism for example.
