New edition of the "Nordic Macromycetes, Volume 2".

Funga Nordica is a funga containing keys and descriptions to 2675 (all known) agarics, boletes and cyphelloids from the Nordic countries including 114 species from the neighbouring countries: UK, the Netherlands, northern Germany, northern Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, and the northwestern part of the European part of Russia.

The funga is edited by Henning Knudsen and Jan Vesterholt and written by 41 mycologists from 16 countries. With very few exceptions from the Mediterranean area and from eastern Europe all known genera from these groups in Europe are included. The resulting taxonomic system is based on a phylogeny from 2006 (Matheny et al.), which has been expanded to include the genera missing in their paper. Nomenclature has been updated and authors corrected.

As an extra bonus the book includes a dvd from MycoKey with synoptic keys to all genera of macrofungi in Europe and to all genera of Pezizales and Helotiales in Europe. Furthermore, this special edition of MycoKey has been enlarged with all the keys from Funga Nordica as pdf-files. MycoKey includes also 4000 colour photos of the best quality seen illustrating one or more species from each of the included genera. MycoKey is produced by Thomas Laessoe and Jens H. Petersen.

All in all the product is the most comprehensive and most advanced for identifying these important groups of fungi not only in Europe, but on most of the northern Hemisphere.
