This text tells the story of the history of the earth and the development of its landforms, mountains, rivers, and oceans using geological features of the National Parks of the United States. This edition has been significantly expanded to cover the historical and cultural aspects of the parks and monuments, and also includes improved illustrations to make the book more accessible to students. It assumes a minimal science background, and is designed particularly to teach geology by example, using some of the most spectacular geologic features in the world.
