About this book

Language: German

The authors provide an illustrated introduction to the geomorphology of the glacier and thus enable a thorough understanding of the interrelationships of the major sub-disciplines of physical geography (and modern climate research). The starting point is the discussion of continental ice sheets (cryosphere), their importance and how they changed over the course of Earth's history. Then the main characteristics of glacial ice and glaciers are discussed, and glacial molding processes, supplemented by fundamentals of glacial sedimentology. Based on these process-oriented foundations created by glacial or glacial meltwater, landforms are explained.
