The major part of the book is taken up with the Systematic list, covering the 266 species recorded in the county during the year. The book also contains regular papers including the Review of the Year and the Ringing Report and various appendices. There are four further papers. These cover Birds of the Itchen Water-cress beds, and the finding of three firsts for Hampshire – Brown Shrike at Chilling, Semipalmated Sandpiper at Black Point and Pied Wheatear at Monk Sherborne.
