About this book

Language: German

This multi-volume work provides a comprehensive overview of the entire herpetofauna of Europe. For each species of reptile and amphibian found in Europe, detailed species specific data and information are compiled. As authors, specialists were acquired for the treatment of each species. The careful editing by the publishers leads to a great uniformity of the whole work.

This volume, which has been subdivided for reasons of size, comprises the second part of the salamanders. It is a direct continuation of Volumes 4/l and 4/IlA. This third sub-volume on salamanders contains the two remaining chapters on the genus Triturus (T. helveticus and T. vulgaris) as well as contribution to the four European salamander species: Salamandra salamandra, S. atra, S. corsica and S. lanzai. At the end of the volume is a key to the larva of all salamanders.

The individual species chapters are structured in the same way as in the previous volumes, so that a direct comparison of the biological facts is guaranteed.
