Dr. William Hillebrand (1849-1886) takes his place as one of the most influential foreigners in the Hawaiian Islands in this fascinating biography. Not only was Dr. Hillebrand an accomplished medical physician, having been chief medical doctor at Queen's medical hospital and personal physician to King Kamehameha V, but he is credited with introducing many of Hawaii's ornamental plant species.
