About this book

Language: French

- Who is the ecological animal that turns toxic waste into high-value luxury goods?
- Why are honeybees outstanding dancers?
- Who is the ideal passenger for interplanetary travel?
- What is the insect that invented the jet engine?

Entomologist Vincent Albouy is, among others, President of the Office for insects and their environment (Office pour les insectes et leur environnement – OPIE) and was the founder and host of PONEMA, the French association for the development of wild or natural gardens. This book about insects has a scholarly character to it, but is also full of curiosity and poetry, which makes these animals fascinating for even the least naturalist-inclined amongst us. Its exciting texts are enhanced by the beauty of the drawings of François Desbordes, one of the greatest contemporary naturalist illustrators.
