The History of Indian Forestry is being brought out in two volumes. Volume 1 covers the period up to 1947. It covers the early part of forestry in India and traces its development both in the pre-British and British periods, covering many aspects like forest policy, law, management, training, research and distribution. Volume 2 covers the period after 1947. This volume encompasses important developments in Indian forestry in the post-Independence era including the National Forest Policies of 1952 and 1988, laws for wildlife protection forest conservation and biological diversity, social and urban forestry, joint forest management, forest administration, re-organizing forestry research and education forest corporations, national forestry commission and many other milestones.
