The main body of Hong Kong Bird Report 1999/00 is taken up with the Systematic Lists 1999 and 2000 which covers the 342 species recorded in Hong Kong during the period. The list includes the following new records for Hong Kong; Eurasian Oystercatcher, Parasitic Jaeger, Drongo Cuckoo, Lesser Shortwing and Pygmy Wren Babbler. There were also Category E records for Red-crested Pochard and Ultramarine Flycatcher reported.

In addition to regular reports on winter waterfowl counts and bird ringing records there are papers on; breeding ecology of White-bellied Sea Eagles, Kadoorie Farm Botanic Garden survey and an updated on birds of the Songjiang District, Shanghai.
