This book describes the 122 sites of exceptional importance to plant conservation in Turkey, detailing both the threatened plant species and the rare habitats that make these sites special.

Illustrated with over 400 photographs and 122 maps, this volume additionally describes the vegetation,geology and geographs of each site, together with the threats that they face. Totalling over 11 million hectares (110,917 km2),these IPAs collectively cover approximately one-eighth of Turkey's land surface.

This publication has been prepared by a consortium of Turkish and British conservation organisations and botanical institutions, with contributions from many scientists and researchers, and represents the first comprehensive listing of Important Plant Areas for any country on earth.
