About this book

Language: French

The biodiversity of freshwater invertebrates, which includes insects, crustaceans and molluscs, is very high in running and standing water. Very sensitive to disturbances that affect their habitat, invertebrates are widely used as indicators of such disturbances; their identification is therefore a challenge of both scientific and ecological importance.

The book is designed with a dual approach: systematically with determination keys and many diagnoses plates to allow identification of different genera and taxa, but also biological and ecological in the form of digitized data tables.

It will interest researchers as well as professional and amateur naturalists. It is a tool for professionals involved in environmental and nature protection programmes, particularly those in charge of surveillance, management, and monitoring of water quality and aquatic habitats.

In this new edition, the references have been updated, the systematics of a few key groups (Ephemeroptera, stoneflies and caddisflies) was revised and new indigenous and invasive species have been described. Nearly 500 taxa are presented.
