About this book

Language: Dutch

The 17th Westhoff Lecture 2015. Including a report of Dr. Ir. Martijn van der Heide and a contribution by Vera van Berlo.

The Institute for Science, Innovation and Society (ISIS) and the Institute for Water and Wetland Research (IWWR), both connected to Radboud University Nijmegen, honour Victor Westhoff with an annual afternoon of lectures which centre around the current state of affairs on the preservation and management of nature.

Due to his numerous publications, lectures, but above all his vision, Prof. Dr. Victor Westhoff (1916-2001) is seen as the most influential post-war conservationist of the Netherlands. He lectured in botany from 1967 up to 1981 at the Catholic University Nijmegen (nowadays known as Radboud University Nijmegen). The aim of the annual Victor Westhoff lecture is, informed by Westhoff's thinking, to feed the social debate on nature protection and policy in the Netherlands.

This booklet bundles the lectures of the 17th Victor Westhoff Lecture: the introduction by Prof. Dr. Joop Schaminée, the lecture of Prof. Dr. Jan Luiten van Zande, a second lecture of Dr. Ir. Martijn van der Heide and a contribution by Vera van Berlo, who was awared the first Golden Parnassia.

Summary in Dutch:
17e Westhofflezing 2015.

Prof. dr.
