About this book

At 5895 m (19340 ft) Mount Kilimanjaro is the summit of Africa, yet accessible to hikers who are determined and well-prepared. The author explains how to plan and prepare, and how to deal with altitude sickness. She describes the ascent by four routes (Machame, Lemosho, Marangu and Rongai) in detail, illustrated with photographs and clear mapping.

Biography

After a career in education and information technology, Jacquetta's interest in long-distance trekking led her to devise and publish a new format of guidebook. Since 2000 she has published nearly 20 guidebooks in this new waterproof, rucksack-friendly format, many of them in Scotland where she lives. She has summited Mount Kilimanjaro four times by different routes (1999-2008), and regards Kili as one of her favourite hikes.
