About this book

Language: Valencian

Carrascal de la Font Roja Nature Reserve in Alicante, Spain, is a place of incomparable beauty and ecological wealth, and, along with the neighboring Sierra de Mariola, is considered by many the big lung of the central regions of Valencia. Over the centuries, man has maintained a very intense relationship with nature in this region, where roads and houses, among others, are a clear testimony. In the more distant past, human beings found in Carrascal an invaluable source of primary resources: wood, herbs, fruit, hunting or firewood. Later, man preindustrially deployed activities dedicated to obtaining coal and lime, and ice and snow in designated wells. The devotion, through pilgrimages to San Antonio and Font Roja (Alcoy) and San Pasqual (Ibi) has contributed to making this relationship more intimate. Currently, Carrascal, enjoying a high degree of protection because of the high ecological value it has, serves its main use in research and recreation in the form of hiking, rural tourism, etc.

This book is intended as a simple guide that will invite you to visit, and that allows the reader to understand the value of this area at present, and throughout history.
