This monograph contains a study on a small collection of hypopial nymphs, a subcutaneous parasite found on hair follicles, of the acarid family Glycyphagidae. All of these, bar two, were found by the author on, or in the nests of, rodents, insectivores and primates from diverse regions of Africa south of the Sahara, principally from the Republic of Congo. Five of them are pilicolous, and are characterised by complex special organs to attach themselves to mammalian fur. The others belong to a new type of nymph that has been described before by the author, and have been placed in the subfamilies Rodentopinae and Lophuromyopinae, family Glycyphagidae.
