Language: Text in French and English
Alcide d'Orbigny's (1802-1857) first work devoted to foraminifera established the foundations of micropalaeontology, without any idea of its important implications in geosciences. The plates of foraminifera drawn by d'Orbigny resulted from several years of observation but remained unpublished although they became an unavoidable reference for many scientists. They are presented in this volume and analysed by Marie-Therese Venec-Peyre.
