About this book

Language: French

This book is the culmination of nearly three years of floristic inventories and environmental expertise applied to the flora of Guadeloupe and Martinique. It is the first red data book whose subject is the threatened flora of a French region and strictly applies the methodology created in 2001 by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The book presents the 187 taxa considered the most endangered in Guadeloupe and Martinique. Each of these taxa is the subject of a full data sheet with photographs and distribution maps showing the state and the current trend of natural populations. In order for these plant populations to be better protected and saved, these sheets give explanations of the most serious threats and their causes, and proposals for conservation measures for the future.
