This is a wonderful celebration and reference book on the native trees of Britain and an insight into trees worldwide, including tree facts, crafts
and lore. The beautiful ash, beech, lime, oak, pine, yew, holly, cherry rowan and whitebeam are just some of the British and Irish trees included in
part one, the largest part of the book. For each portrait the botanical and identification details are complemented by rich historical and folklore
details plus the uses of each tree. And, of course, this section is illustrated with some of the most beautiful trees in Britain, particularly those
that can be seen at National Trust properties. The overall history of our native trees is also given along with details on ancient trees, rare trees
and managing trees.
