This book is the result of five years' travelling and research in the region. Intended as a complementary volume to Mammals of New Guinea, it covers Micronesia, Melanesia, Polynesia and New Zealand. These islands are home to 230 indigenous species of mammals, all of which are covered here in detailed accounts, together with 60 introduced and extinct species. Each account gives scientific, local and English name, a brief description, and details of distribution (with map), range and status.
